ARTICLE: Whitman Shows Readiness for Tough Campaign

Meg Whitman, the ex-CEO of eBay, has come out swinging in her bid for the California governor’s office. The Los Angeles Times describes Whitman’s pre-emptive strike against GOP rival Steve Poizner as “classic political hardball.” Although this strategy has backfired against many well-heeled candidates in the past, it may well lead Whitman to victory if she can keep her campaign focused on the issues that fiscally conservative voters care about.
