A new Field Poll reveals that Meg Whitman holds a commanding 5-1 lead over fellow gubernatorial candidate Steve Poizner in the upcoming Republican primary. Perhaps more surprisingly, the poll found that in a general election matchup with Jerry Brown Meg even leads in heavily Democratic Los Angeles County, indicating her strength as a candidate.

Meg Whitman, the ex-CEO of eBay, has come out swinging in her bid for the California governor’s office.
